About Us

THE MARCH OF TIME

The Past
Singapore Institute of Science was founded in 1940 by the late Mr K.C. George who became the first principal of the Institute. A man of great vision and courage, he saw the need for an institution to meet the needs of the many students who were unable to study science subjects in regular schools at that time. Today, many of our former students are prominent personalities, both in public and private sectors. In fact, many of our former teachers have gone on to greater things

The Present
We specialise in Science and Maths subjects for Sec 2 students, and Biology, Chemistry and Physics (Pure and Combined) subjects for Sec 3, Sec 4 and PreU 2 students. These classes are available for both school students and private students. With an improved fully equipped laboratory, individual practicals are now provided for all Science subjects. Due to our affordable rates, we have a growing population of students. Furthermore, we have launched a full-time composite comprehensive course for GCE "O" level students. Such a  course is suitable for students planning to pursue their education in polytechnics or in junior colleges.

The Future
Down the road we intend to offer a wide variety of subjects for GCE 'N', 'O' and 'A' levels, for both school and private students. With state-of-the-art laboratory and bigger classrooms, we plan to attract more students to our school.

Our mission is to offer the highest quality and standard in the delivery of science courses to prepare our students for the Singapore-Cambridge GCE “O” and “A” level exams. This will empower them with a solid foundation to pursue further education and careers in the new economy viz bio-sciences, medical, engineering etc. We are committed to provide the most up-to-date and state-of-the-art facilities for a conducive learning environment, which will help our students achieve their utmost potential.

CORPORATE CULTURE

Singapore Institute of Science has come a long way over the past seven decades. It survived several crisis, including World War II and the Asian Financial crisis. This is due, in no small part, to its corporate governance and business philosophy which is enshrined in the following core values:-

  • Uncompromising integrity

  • Respect for the individual

  • Best business practices

  • Transparency

  • Accountability

  • Re-invention

  • Continuous improvement

These guiding principles form the cornerstones upon which the foundation of this institute was built.
